Ekosistem gambut sangat rentan dan sensitif\u00a0terhadap perubahan, baik yang disebabkan oleh campur tangan manusia maupun alami. Lahan gambut terdegradasi secara simultan akan menjadi stimulus terjadinya perubahan kesetimbangan alami, dan akan sulit untuk pulih kembali jika kapasitas pendukungnya telah terdegradasi. Besarnya intensitas drainase dan kebakaran berulang di lahan gambut akan menjadi katalis yang menyebabkan penurunan permukaan lahan.<\/p>\n<p>Data yang saat ini tersedia menunjukan bahwa rata-rata lahan gambut yang didrainase akan mengalami laju subsidensi sekitar 5 cm\/tahun. Jika kondisi ini terus terjadi,\u00a0maka saluran drainase tidak akan mampu untuk membuang air\u00a0ke badan air penerima\u00a0karena batas drainase alami sesuai hukum gravitasi\u00a0telah terlampaui. Dengan demikian, sangat mungkin terjadi lokasi tersebut akan tergenang secara tetap.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5567\" src=\"https:\/\/indonesia.wetlands.org\/id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/07\/Picture3-960x570.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Akibat langsung dari kondisi diatas akan berpengaruh langsung terhadap kehidupan masyarakat di sekitar lahan gambut, dimana kondisi tergenang yang permanen akan memberikan hambatan untuk praktek budidaya pertanian sebagaimana yang dilakukan saat ini. Dengan demikian, dibutuhkan adaptasi budidaya yang menyesuaikan dengan kondisi tergenang tersebut. Salah satu solusi adaptif\u00a0yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat di lokasi adalah dengan mengaplikasikan <strong><b>Teknologi Sawah Terapung<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>. <\/b><\/strong>Melalui penerapan<strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>teknologi tersebut, masyarakat diharapkan masih bisa memperoleh mata penghidupan yang memadai, meskipun dalam kondisi lingkungan yang telah mengalami perubahan.
